Each hypothesis follows the same structure:
Current state — the exact element being changed, with a timestamp or quote from the ad. "The hook opens with a product shot and price (0–3 seconds). No problem frame, no social signal."
Proposed variant — the specific change. "Replace the product-shot open with a 3-second creator testimonial clip using the line 'I switched to this from [competitor]' before the product appears."
Lever targeted — which framework the change is designed to move. In this case: Cialdini social proof, moved to the hook; Schwartz stage confirmed as Solution-Aware.
Metric to watch — hook rate (3-second view rate) for hook changes; CVR for body and CTA changes; both for full-ad restructures.
The hypotheses are ranked by expected lift. AdRevila prioritizes the lever that, if moved one notch, produces the highest value-equation score change given the ad's stage. Unique mechanism introduction — triggered when Schwartz sophistication is high (saturated category, jaded buyer) and the ad is making a category-level claim the viewer has already discounted. The variant introduces a specific mechanism — the named ingredient, the proprietary process, the sourcing detail — that makes the claim feel new. Expected lift: time-on-page and add-to-cart rate.
CTA friction reduction — triggered when the Effort lever scores medium-high and the CTA implies a multi-step commitment (quiz, consultation, intake form) that cold traffic isn't ready for. The variant softens the ask to match the stage: "see the products" instead of "start your intake." Expected lift: CTR from ad.
Why it matters
Most creative teams run A/B tests that are underpowered and underspecified. "Test a different hook" produces 40 variations with no shared hypothesis and no way to learn from the results. Framework-grounded hypotheses are the opposite: each test answers a specific question about a specific lever.
